Congratulations to Boarder Krista Harris (Soon to be Hucko!)

Sending a HUGE congratulations to boarder Krista Harris and her now fiance Tim Hucko! He planned the whole engagement at Southwind and we just had to share. They went on a hack together with her horse Sylvester and Sheri's horse Marley. While they were out Tim proposed to Krista on the ride. How sweet is that? He sounds like a keeper to us Krista! Congratulations again!

Calling all boarders & Sharing an article on Stall vs. Pasture board

Hello Everyone!

We are currently seeking new boarders to come join our Southwind family! Did you know that here at Southwind Farm, if you have a horse in stall board we also offer field board options for other horses? This is just one of our many options we provide to help keep your board affordable as we know not every horse needs a stall and some horses prefer to be out!

We also know that when boarding your horse, there are many decisions to make. One of those decisions is whether to stall board or field board your horse. What is the best environment for your horse to live in? Many people can be unsure at first for several reasons: recently acquired the horse, changing careers, occasional pleasure riding only, etc. Really, the answer is, that it depends. It is important to make sure that your horse is comfortable, happy and most of all, healthy. Stall boarding or field boarding can play a major role in this.

Some people say that a mixture of stall and field board can be the best option. Others with high sport performance horses feel that stall board is the best option.  To look into further detail check out this blog post from horseboardingsecrets.com which although has a lot of information, does bring up some good questions to think about and consider when deciding what type of board is best for your horses. If you are looking for a place to board in Montgomery County, Maryland and want to keep your horse happy, healthy and safe, please visit our website at: www.southwindfarminc.com to contact Sheri and set up a time to come out and see the farm!

Also, don't forget about the PVDA Schooling Show that we are hosting here at Southwind on April 24th! This is a great way for riders and spectators to come out and see the farm! If you are interested in competing, contact Carolyn Del Grosso at 301-774-0794 or at carolyn.delgrosso@pvda.org. Non-members are also allowed to come compete!
