Sympathies to Carol Schecter

All of our sympathies are with our friend Carol Schecter who lost her horse Jamie a few days ago. He had a strangulating lipoma that was discovered during surgery and he could not be repaired. Jamie was a big personality at Southwind we will miss him tons!  Our hearts go out to Carol during this time.

Happy (brisk) Monday morning,

Here at the farm in Damascus, mother nature hasn't let up with the cold temperatures. Currently, it's 8-degrees outside with a windchill of negative 4. Don't worry though, the horses are in their stalls with everything they need to stay warm in this weather! With a significant amount of snow predicted later today and overnight, it doesn't appear we will be getting a break from winter just yet. 

This seems to be about right...

(PS- Sending a HUGE thank you from everyone at the farm to those who are helping make sure the horses stay warm & fed!!)

On another note, we would like to wish a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Sheri's daughter Jenny! We hope that this year is a great one!

Good Morning!

Today we would like to share a congratulations to friend & boarder, Traci Melvin. Traci attended the PVDA Annual Awards Dinner last week and was honored with five awards this year!  All of them she earned riding her gelding, Solomon.  Here are the awards she won:

-High Score Champion for Musical Freestyle
-High Score - 4th place - for First Level Dressage
-The Mid Atlantic Friesian Association High Score Schooling Show Award
-A First Level Rider Achievement Award
-the Trespassers William Perpetual Trophy for the highest average score for a Freestyle at a PVDA schooling show.

2014 was a great year for Traci and we couldn't be more proud of she and Solomon!!
